A couple more images of Serena

Here are a couple more images of Serena in her 8th month of pregnancy. She is just absolutely beautiful and glowing.

I don't think I have captured her beauty as well as I want. We are thinking of doing another shoot. I am so glad she is willing to let me learn!

Man on the Steps

My son Eric and I were out taking some pictures for my photography class when a friend stopped by to chat with us. I snapped a couple of shots. Later when I got home I just played with the image using filters and came up with this image.

I don't think he will particularly like it but I think it is interesting and different.

Monochromatic Assignment

Our monochromatic pictures are due this Thursday for Photography 112 class. Each of these are printed on 13X19 paper. We are not allowed to crop any of our pictures so we can only print what we took with our camera. I did not realize I rely upon being able to crop as much as I do.

We pin our pictures up on the wall and the instructor and classmates say what they like or don't like about each image. It is kinda stressful but I feel as if I am learning a lot about color and how to print pictures in this class.

I have to select the best three to submit for a grade.

Color Contrast Assignment

The assignment is to have three 13X19 prints ready for critique on Tuesday in my Photography 112 class.

The assignment is to take pictures using complementary contrast, active/passive contrast, primary contrast, passive contrast or complex contrast.

This is harder than one might think. I have found out that I really don't know the color wheel.

Please tell me your favorite 3!

Serina

I have more images to work on but I wanted to let Serina see what I have done so far.

What a wonderful young couple. It is such a feeling of honor to be able to help document this moment in their life.

Thanks for spending the afternoon with me!

Elly

My dear friend Linny allowed me to take pictures of her daughter Elly for my photography class. Elly is 10 years old, beautiful and very sweet. It was a joy t get to take her picture.

I am hoping to be able to use this for some monotone prints.

Color Assignment: Green

Boy, it is hard to color balance green!

Brittney Parker braved the large green butterfly eyelashes for me. She was a true trooper. It was cold, cloudy and miserable posing with these heavy heavy eyelashes.

What a trooper. Not one complaint was heard out of her.

Photography 112 at Texas A&M Commerce

The colors are:

1. Yesterday's Yellow
2. Butterscotch Tempest
3. Brown Eyed Susan

By the way, these are our teacher's color names, not mine! These are just my interpretation of the colors.

Pretty in Pink

Our first conceptual assignment in Photography 112 is learning to work with color.

Our task is to learn how to manage color from the camera to the computer to the printer to the final print. It is much harder than one would think to do it correctly. I don't have it down quite yet but I'm working on doing it right.

Thanks to Rhonda Parker for being such a good sport and being my "Miss Pink". Isn't she pretty?

This is a picture of Eric using a "gritty look" filter.

John and Dena 31 Jan 2010

I spent a wonderful Sunday afternoon photographing John and Dena.

They are so young and full of life. I feel so old!
