Thinking about a new series

Old Abandoned Gas Stations
Pin hole and Holga cameras rock. Using these two cameras this summer and going into the darkroom and feeling the magic of legal chemicals have left me wanting more. So....I am considering spending the rest of my summer taking pictures of old abandoned gas stations and some of the old downtown areas that I pass through from time to time. In the trunk of my car, you will find a homemade pinhole camera that David made for me, a Holga camera wrapped in black electrical tape, a plastic Fish Eye camera and an old toy panaramic camera. Be sure and wave when you see me by the side of the road getting the tripod out!

Ambria through the eyes of a Holga

Ambria, is also taking the Holga darkroom class this summer. She kindly allowed me to take some pictures of her with my Holga toy camera which has no controls and a cheap plastic lens. These are taken on 120 cheap Chinese film to boot!

We tried several images experimenting with the light.

Holga lotta pictures

Boy have I exposed and developed a whole lot of black and white film in the darkroom this summer for my Holga class. One of the great aspects is that I get to spend time in the cool darkroom during the hot Texas summer. It has been a real challenge to capture images using a cheap plastic camera with a cheap plastic lens but I have learned so much from Chad Smith, the instructor. What do you think?
